Eurorack Journey 001:The Case

14 November 2025

Modular synthesis entered my life through Noa Lothian, but it wasn’t until I immersed myself in Sole Massif: False Negatives album that its true potential unfolded for me. I always knew about modular, but it felt too complex, and I never understood what people were really chasing with it, But something about that world, its freedom… It wasn’t complexity anymore after listening to that album. It was possibility to explore.

The first step was securing the right case. I went with the Intellijel 7U — a choice based solely on quality and long-term flexibility I need.

I’ve always been drawn to that unmistakable Buchla character, so my first oscillator will be the Tiptop 258t. Its character feels like a starting point worthy of the path ahead. Alongside it, the Assimil8or Sampler—a choice influenced by Noa and the reviews I’ve seen online to what this module is capable of is really awesome.

If you’re curious about what I’m aiming for at this stage, here’s what I’ve built so far on Modular Grid. I’ve also made a YouTube Playlist where I save cool videos and reviews I find interesting.

This series is my way of documenting the process of building this machine. If you have advice—wisdom, warnings, something you wish you knew when you started—message me on my socials. I’d love to learn from people who’ve walked this path before.

Thanks for reading, here is the beginning.
